Daily Fantasy Baseball Hitter Analysis Tuesday 7-24-2012

There’s plenty of daily fantasy baseball action to go around tonight with a full schedule on the docket. The trade activity is starting to pick up as the deadline approaches so double check that some of your picks aren’t traded out of nowhere. Did Ichiro really get traded to the Yankees? That’s great news for him, but bad news for Brett Gardner owners in season long leagues. Here are some words of wisdom from Ichiro:

''I am going from a team with the most losses to a team with the most wins,'' Ichiro told reporters. ''It's hard to contain my excitement for that reason.''

The great thing about daily fantasy baseball is that, like Ichiro, you can go from the worst team to the best team on a daily basis. All you have to do is regroup, do some research, and step back up to the plate!

Picks to Click

Arizona Diamondbacks Starting Lineup – The Colorado Rockies pitching staff is hurting. They’ve tried everything…4 man rotations, 40+ year olds, voodoo…you name it…they’ve tried it. Tonight they’re running the white flag up the pole before the game even starts. That’s right, they’re sending Edwar Gonzalez out as their starting pitcher. Edwar’s WHIP (3.43) after his first start almost mirrors Joe Saunder’s ERA (3.58). This could get ugly!

Yoenis Cespedes (OF | Athletics) – Cespedes is making the A’s look good. It’s not often they shell out the big bucks for a free agent, so everyone was surprised when they landed Yoenis in the offseason. He’s battled through some injuries, but looks 100% healthy now. He’s 10 of 22 (.455 avg) with a double, 2 homeruns, and 4 RBIs over the past week. He’ll face the Blue Jay’s Brett Cecil in Toronto tonight. If you’re looking for some reasonably priced power tonight, Yoenis is your guy.

Batter vs. Pitcher

Shin-Soo Choo (OF | Indians) – Chugga, chugga, choo choo. Get on the Shin-Soo Choo bandwagon train tonight for a one way ride to victory lane. Choo is 8 of 19 lifetime against the Tiger’s Doug Fister with 1 double, 2 homeruns and 5 RBIs.

Clint Barmes (SS | Pirates) – Barmes has been getting regular playing time at shortstop for the Pirates. He’s not exactly tearing the cover off the ball, so he’ll be dirt cheap on most daily fantasy sports sites. He is 13 of 29 (.448 avg) against the Cub’s Paul Maholm with 3 doubles, 1 triple, 2 homeruns, and 9 RBIs. He has a hit in 7 of his last 10 starts, so he’s been producing. Make no mistake about it though, this is a pure BvP play that could pay off given the cheap asking price!

Opposing Pitchers to Target

Edwar Gonzalez (COL) | Paul Maholm (CHC) | Brett Cecil (TOR) | Martin Perez (TEX) | Will Smith (KC)
