The matchup to watch today has got to be Francisco Liriano pitching against his former team in Minnesota. It’s one thing to trade your pitcher, but another thing to trade him to one of the top teams in your division. It’s kind of a slap in the face to Liriano as the Twins are saying, “We don’t care that we’ll have to face you a few times each year.” It probably won’t matter how many runs Liriano gives up as I’m sure his counterpart on the Twins, Nick Blackburn, will find a way to gift wrap the win for him.

Today’s Fantasy Baseball Picks to Click

Chicago White Sox Lineup – The worst Twins pitcher, Nick Blackburn, will face the ex-Twins ace, Francisco Liriano, in Minnesota tonight. Blackburn gave up 8 earned runs over 4.1 innings when he faced the White Sox lineup less than a week ago. I doubt he’s discovered a newfound effectiveness over the last few days. It should be noted that his home ERA is better than on the road (7.90 vs. 8.08).

Matt Holliday (OF | Cardinals) – Holliday is on fire over the past two weeks and headed to Coors field. Over the past 14 days, Holliday is 15 of 43 with 3 doubles, 4 homeruns, and 9 RBIs. He’ll face Jeff Francis who he’s 3 of 6 against with 1 homerun and 2 RBIs. I like his odds a lot!

Batter vs. Pitcher

Matt Wieters (Catcher | Orioles) – Wieters must be licking his chops for tonight’s matchup against the Yankees’ Ivan Nova. He’s 7 of 16 lifetime against Nova with 2 doubles, 3 homeruns, and 5 RBIs. Wieters only has 5 hits in his last 41 at-bats, so he’s got to be hoping his matchup against Nova will help him break out of his mini-slump.

Prince Fielder (1B | Tigers) – Fielder has only faced Josh Beckett 9 times in the past, but he’s hit him hard every time they’ve met. He has 3 homeruns and 4 RBIs in those at-bats. Beckett’s given up 4 earned runs in each of his last two outings, so he’s far from his dominate self.

Honorable Mention

Robinson Cano (2B | Yankees) vs. Chris Tillman: 7 of 11 with 1 double and 4 RBIs

Elvis Andrus (SS | Rangers) vs. Jered Weaver: 22 of 51 with 4 doubles, 1 triple, 2 homeruns, and 5 RBIs

Shin-Soo Choo (OF | Indians) vs. Luke Hochevar: 15 of 25 with 4 doubles, 3 homeruns, and 12 RBIs

Edwin Encarnacion (1B | Blue Jays) vs. Jason Vargas: 5 of 13 with 2 doubles, 2 homeruns and 5 RBIs

Brian McCann (C | Braves) vs. Ricky Nolasco: 18 of 52 with 4 doubles, 6 homeruns, and 20 RBIs

Opposing Pitchers to Target

Nick Blackburn (MIN) | Jeff Francis (COL) | Dallas Keuchel (HOU)
