2012 PGA Championship Fantasy Golf Preview

The 94th PGA Championship tees off this Thursday, August 9th on the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Course. The Ocean Course is well known for its beautiful location and extreme wind conditions. Last year, the PGA Championship was played at the Atlanta Athletic Club where Keegan Bradley stamped his name in the history books as one of only three players to ever win the first major they ever played in. Ben Curtis and Francis Ouimet were the other two golfers to accomplish the feat.

Keegan Bradley will have his work cut out for him this week as he tries to win back-to-back Wanamaker trophies. Bradley’s rookie season was one of the greatest ever and he’s performed well in his sophomore season on the PGA Tour. He’s the 9th ranked golfer in DraftStreet’s Weekly Fantasy Golf contests for the PGA Championship with a salary of $20,980.

Tiger Woods will be playing for his 15th Major victory on Sunday and the top ranked fantasy golfer in this week’s contests. He’ll cost you a cool $36,120. The top ranked golfer in the world, Luke McDonald, is right behind Tiger with the second highest salary ($30,318) on the daily fantasy sports site.

DraftStreet Daily Fantasy Golf Value Plays

Thobjorn Olesen ($10,740) –Olesen is my sleeper pick of the week. He’s dirt cheap on DraftStreet and playing great golf. He’s played most of his golf on the European Tour this year except for the British Open where he finished tied for 9th place. He’s showed he can play in windy conditions earlier in the year when he won in Sicily on a golf course along the Mediterranean.

Jason Dufner ($23,329) – I’m surprised Dufner is still so cheap on DraftStreet. He’s my top pick this week in the PGA Championship, with Tiger Woods being a close second. Dufner is ranked 6th in DraftStreet’s fantasy golf contests and has made 15 of 17 cuts so far this year including 7 Top 10 finishes. He’ll be on every one of my rosters this week!

Bill Haas ($14,213) – Haas is my middle range pick this week and I’ll be switching him in and out of a couple rosters. He won a tournament early in the year and enters the PGA Championship coming off of two straight finishes in the Top 20.
