Daily Fantasy Baseball Hitter Analysis Tuesday 8-14-2012

Watching the Nationals rack up 14 runs in the first 5 innings yesterday against the Giants reminded me how crazy daily fantasy baseball can be. The Nationals faced red hot Ryan Vogelsong who had only given up 4 earned runs twice this season (not to mention they were facing him at home where he has a .214 batting average against this season). The Nationals proceeded to score 14 runs over 5 innings against Vogelsong and Brad Penny even though they only hit one homerun. If you had a few Nationals in your lineup last night you probably won a lot of your leagues, but who could have predicted their offensive explosion against Vogelsong? I’ve learned to expect the unexpected in daily fantasy baseball over the past few weeks and the Nationals offensive barrage yesterday reaffirmed my beliefs.

Milwaukee Brewers Offense: You can pencil the Brewers offense in again for tomorrow as they’ll be playing in Colorado again. Today they’ll face Tyler Chatwood who looked like the Rockies’ ace last time he faced the Giants in San Francisco (he pitched 5 shutout innings). Today he won’t have the luxury of pitching in AT&T Park in San Francisco (which didn’t help Vogelsong out much yesterday).  Today will help us learn what to expect going forward.

Colorado Rockies Offense: I highlighted the Brewers offense yesterday, but failed to mention the Rockies because they were set to face Michael Fiers. Fiers went on to give up 8 earned runs over 2 innings and his ERA jumped from 1.80 to 2.63 on the season. Today the Rockies will face the Brewers ageless wonder Randy Wolf. They could easily repeat yesterday’s early game performance against Wolf today.
