Wyndham Championship Weekly Fantasy Golf Preview
Posted on Aug 14th, 2012 07:13 AM

Rory McIlroy ran away with last week’s PGA Championship, but will be sitting out of this week’s stop on the PGA Tour. The tour is headed to Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. This week is the last regular season tournament on the tour, so the pros will be watching the Wyndham Championship leaderboard and the FedExCup standings to make sure they finish in the Top 125. Starting next week, only the Top 125 will move on to the FedExCup Playoffs at the Barclays.

Webb Simpson will be defending his 2011 Wyndham Championship and has an outside chance of moving into the Top 5 in the FedExCup standings if he can repeat this year. He’s the highest priced player in DraftStreet’s Weekly Fantasy Golf contests this week with a salary of $31,186. Jason Dufner is the only other golfer in his price range with the second highest salary of $31,098. If Dufner finishes in 1st or 2nd place at the Wyndham this weekend he’ll overtake Tiger Woods in the FedExCup standings. I liked Dufner a lot last week and he let me down (although his price was a lot lower). I’ll have him in my 50/50 rosters on DraftStreet this week as the course suits him well and he has a lot to play for. I’m not as high on Simpson given his price tag and missed cut last week at the PGA Championship.

DraftStreet Weekly Fantasy Golf Value Plays

Ryan Moore ($16,864) –Moore’s won at Sedgefield Country Club before (2009) and has been playing great golf this year. He’s made 15 of 18 cuts and has four Top 10 finishes to his credit. He missed the cut last week at the PGA Championship, but we’ll chalk that up to the crazy conditions on Friday.

Ken Duke ($15,206) – Duke has been the model of consistency this year on the PGA Tour and has racked up six Top 10 finishes. He’s made 19 of 24 cuts and is currently ranked 39th in the FedExCup standings. Look for the crafty veteran to finish the regular season strong and return good value for his $15K salary on DraftStreet.

John Daly ($11,641) – Daly has a lot to play for this week and has been playing solid golf the past couple months. He’s currently ranked 137 in the FedExCup standings, so a strong showing would push him into the Top 125 just in time for the FedExCup playoffs next week. He’s still very cheap on DraftStreet, so get him in some of your lineups this week!
