There’s got to be some kind of beginner’s luck involved in winning the weekly DFBC qualifiers! Pepsi7 won the ninth FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Championship (DFBC) qualifier yesterday with a high score of 76.5 despite only playing on FanDuel since Monday, May 21st. It’s great to see new players succeed in the DFBC. Hopefully pepsi7 can continue his hot streak and place well in the Vegas finale.

FanDuel's DFBC will pay out over $250,000 in cash prizes and the final event will be held live on July 28, 2012 in Las Vegas at the Palazzo. First place in the FanDuel DFBC will take home $100,000! To win the top prize pepsi7 will have to outscore the other fourteen qualifiers. At a minimum, he'll win $1,500 plus an all-expenses paid trip to Vegas.

Pepsi7 won the Week 9 DFBC qualifier with a well rounded team. It’s nice to see a lineup win without stacking an entire team! His leading scorer was the Giants starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner. Bumgarner pitched a gem against the helpless Chicago Cubs offense and scored 22 points for pepsi7. Pepsi7’s offense was powered by Jason Kipnis (11.25 points) and Michael Cuddyer (12.5 points). Both players had favorable matchups and were excellent picks.

As mentioned earlier, pepsi7 is relatively new to FanDuel. He joined the site on May 21st, which means he’s played on FanDuel for less than two weeks! In those two weeks he has had some success, winning 12 MLB games for a total of $473.

I’d also like to give a quick shout out to one of our writers, Al Zeidenfeld (aka Al_Smizzle), who had three teams finish in the Top 50 of this week’s qualifier. He was in the running for first place, but caught a couple bad breaks when Colorado sat some of their top players. Look for him at the top of the leaderboard in Week 10!
